SUSTAINABILITY

According to WRAP, around 300,000 tonnes of clothing goes to landfill every year in the UK alone. With the rise of Fast Fashion, this realisation alongside the carbon-intensive processes of producing and shipping the garments in the first place, make our industry the second most polluting industry on Earth.

It is clear, now more than ever, how important it is that we reduce our impact on the planet and at Hem Raisers, we are committed to finding ways to do this.

Reduce

At Hem Raisers, we are working to reduce the impact our fabrics have on the environment from beginning to end. To do this, we use "deadstock" fabric, which is fabric that is leftover once the original order has been fulfilled, reducing fabric waste.

When purchasing new fabrics, we will be using fabrics from sustainable sources where-ever possible. As part of our commitment to this, our polyester linings and satin trims will now be 100% Recycled once our deadstock fabric has been used.

Our threads will also be following the same process. Once deadstock threads have been used up, they will be replaced with rPET 100% Recycled Gutermann threads, making your garments from us more sustainable than ever!

Reuse

Alterations and Repairs are the backbone of our company. We never leave a good garment behind! Broke your zip? We can fix it! Got a hole? We can patch it! In the very worst cases, the garments can be deconstructed and used to create something new! How about a new patchwork quilt?

Recycle

Give your wedding dress a new lease of life with our Transformation Service! With all that fabric, there's plenty to go around, we could make a dress or two for christenings, or completely restyle it into an evening dress to remember. Have your mother's wedding dress but it's not quite your style? Let us help you turn it into the dress of your dreams!
